I have nothing to
do with the club.
Fishing on the River
Kelvin is managed by the "River Kelvin Angling Association".
The permit only costs around fifteen pounds and there is no day permits
available. You might be suprised by this and Iwould not blame you -
There is not one sign on the whole of the 33km or river to say a club
manages it...in fact when I brought the issue up at the AGM I was told
they would just be pulled down and there is not a poaching problem anyway...if
you fish the river and think differently you might like to bring the
issue up at the next AGMT
There are no bailiffs
on the water which means it is up to the anglers conscience as to whether
they buy a permit or not.
THE RULES OF THE "CLUB"
ARE AS FOLLOWS
1. Members will be
allowed to fish only one rod at any time. All fly fishing will be by
means of a single fly rod only with reel line and nylon leader: wire

spinning and bait fishing will be carried out by means of a single rod
and any weights used shall be consistent with the lure or bait employed.
2. A member fishing bait shall attend his rod at all times.

the end of the season.
Lets face facts ....£15
is hardly anything for the amount of lovely brown trout fishing that
you get as well as the improving runs Salmon and Sea Trout.
Yes, that's right
£15 for 23 miles of fishing. You cant beat it can you.
The actual permits can be purchased in many places throughout Glasgow,
most if not all of the shops sell them. The main ones are, Glasgow Angling
Centre, Danny's Den, Crockets the Ironmongers and Gaffaro Brothers.
If you need directions let me know.
You can contact the
club secretary, Douglas Brown, on 0141 946 6060.
